Onze traditionele nieuwjaarstournee kijkt over de grenzen van de klassieke muziek heen. Na het succes in 2017 keert de prins van de kamerpop Rufus Wainwright met Amsterdam Sinfonietta terug op de Nederlandse podia.
In januari 2023 bundelen Rufus Wainwright en Amsterdam Sinfonietta opnieuw hun krachten in een nieuw spectaculair programma: een 90 minuten durende reis “Devils and Angels” met stukken en songs geïnspireerd door Liefde en Haat. Naast nummers van Rufus zoals Devils and Angels en Westside Waltz, zullen er covers te horen zijn van o.a. Prince, Paul Simon en Woodkid. Klassieke stukken die zich verweven met popsongs; Wagners Tristan en Isolde met Wainwrights Early Morning Madness, of de naadloze overgang van een aria van Gluck in Devils and Angels.

In the traditional New Year’s tour Breder dan klassiek’, our house group Amsterdam Sinfonietta goes beyond the boundaries of classical music. After the success in 2017, the prince of chamber pop Rufus Wainwright returns to the Stadsgehoorzaal with Amsterdam Sinfonietta.

Rufus Wainwright and Amsterdam Sinfonietta bundle their strength in a new spectacular program: a 90-minute journey Devils and Angels with pieces and songs inspired by Love and Hate. In addition to songs by Rufus such as Devils and Angels and Westside Waltz, there will be covers by Prince, Paul Simon and Woodkid, among others. Classic pieces intertwined with pop songs; Wagner’s Tristan and Isolde with Wainwright’s Early Morning Madness, or the seamless transition from an aria by Gluck into Devils and Angels.
