Er gaat geen seizoen voorbij zonder onze ‘huisgitarist’ Izhar Elias. Want wat hij speelt is altijd bijzonder. En hij heeft zoveel bijzondere muzikale vrienden! Neem nou violiste Quirine Scheffers en cellist Joachim Eijlander. Samen brengen zij een temperamentvol Spaans programma: Romanza Andaluza.
Spaanse passie
De warme klanken van de cello, de expressieve viool en de typische Spaanse klanken van de gitaar vormen de basis voor een bijzondere samenwerking tussen violiste Quirine Scheffers, cellist Joachim Eijlander en gitarist Izhar Elias. Een heerlijke Spaanse avond met solo’s, duo’s en trio’s, uit drie eeuwen Spaans repertoire. Hoewel Gaspar Cassadó geen ‘household name’ is, krijgt hij een centrale plek in het programma. Want zijn warmbloedig en opzwepende muziek klinkt geweldig, zeker als die gespeeld wordt door Joachim en Izhar, die onlangs een cd aan Casadó weidden. Dat album, Dark Fire, kreeg lovende kritiek, met onder meer 4 sterren in NRC. En Isaac Albeniz, Enrique Granados en Manuel De Falla mogen natuurlijk niet ontbreken in dit temperamentvolle concert.
Izhar Elias
Izhar Elias is een van de meest veelzijdige gitaristen van onze tijd. Zijn poëtische stijl en grensverleggende programmering is gefundeerd op uitgebreide verdieping in de historische uitvoeringspraktijk (barok en vroege 19e eeuw), de kamermuziek en de hedendaagse muziek. Hij speelt samen met de meest uiteenlopende musici als componist en metalgitarist Florian Magnus Maier, blokfluitist Erik Bosgraaf en de Georgische klarinetvirtuoos Levan Tskhadadze. Voor dit concert neemt hij violiste Quirine Scheffers en cellist Joachim Eijlander, twee uitzonderlijke strijkers die samen in het Rubens Kwartet speelden.

We can’t go through a season without our ‘house guitarist’ Izhar Elias. Because what he plays is always exceptional and he has so many noteworthy musical friends! For example violinist Quirine Scheffers and cellist Joachim Eijlander. Together they bring a temperamental Spanish program: Romanza Adaluza.

An extraordinary Spanish night with solo’s, duo’s and trio’s, from three centuries of Spanish repertoire. Even though Gaspar Cassadó isn’t a ‘household name’, he gets a central place in the program. Because his passionate and uplifting music sounds amazing, especially if it’s played by Joachim and Izhar, who recently dedicated a CD to Cassadó. That album, Dark Fire, got great reviews, for example 4 stars in NRC. And Isaac Albeniz, Enrique Granados and Manuel De Falla can not be left out of this excitable concert.
Izhar Elias
Izhar Elias is one of the most versatile guitarists of our time. His poetic style and groundbreaking program is founded in extensive study of the historic performance practice (baroque and early 19th century), chamber- and contemporary music. In 2011, he received the prestigious Dutch ‘Muziekprijs’. He played together with the most various musici as a composer like metalguitarist Florian Magnus Mairer, recorder player Erik Bosgraaf and Georgian clarinet virtuoso Levan Tskhadadze. In this concert he brings violinist Quirine Scheffers and cellist Joachim Eijlander with him, two exceptional string players who played together in the Rubens Kwartet.
