Shin Sihan & Gorka Plada Girón

De jonge Nederlandse sterviolist Shin Sihan is nog geen dertig, maar hij soleerde al bij zo’n beetje alle Nederlandse orkesten, hij speelt in het succesvolle Amsterdam Pianotrio met pianist Yang Yang Cai en cellist Alexander Warenberg en hij is lid van kamermuziekcollectief Chianti Ensemble. Dat leverde hem een bak aan ervaring op, wat de jonge violist muzikaal zeer volwassen maakt.

Toen Shin Sihan in 2020 de Grachtenfestivalprijs won, schreef de jury: ‘Violist Shin Sihan bindt uitmuntende musici aan zich en verleidt ze mee te gaan in zijn muzikale avontuur. Samen met hen creëert hij magische momenten en pakt hij zijn publiek in.’ Een van die uitmuntende musici is de jonge Spaanse pianist Gorka Plada Girón.
Schumann, Milhaud & Bartók
Kort na de wat donkere Eerste Vioolsonate componeerde Robert Schumann een tweede, die opgewekter, stralender en tegelijkertijd introspectieve is dan de eerste. De prachtige melodieën, romantische harmonieën en sterke contrasten zijn typisch Schumann. Darius Milhaud schreef wat ooit het ballet Le boeuf sur le toit zou worden, oorspronkelijk als filmmuziek voor viool en piano. Het virtuoze, feestelijke stuk is geïnspireerd op muziek die hij in Brazilië had gehoord. Béla Bartóks Tweede Vioolsonate is geen makkelijk stuk voor violisten, wist de componist zelf al: ‘De vioolpartij is uitzonderlijk moeilijk en alleen een eersteklas violist heeft enige kans om die te spelen.’ Gelukkig is Shin Sihan zo’n eersteklas violist, en kunt u genieten van Bartóks krachtige geheel eigen toontaal, vol subtiele verwijzingen naar de Hongaarse volksmuziek.

The young Dutch star violinist Shin Sihan is not yet thirty, but he has already played solo with almost all Dutch orchestras, he plays in the successful Amsterdam Piano Trio with pianist Yang Yang Cai and cellist Alexander Warenberg and he is a member of chamber music collective Chianti Ensemble. This provided him with a lot of experience, which makes the young violinist very mature musically.

When Shin Sihan won the Grachtenfestivalprijs in 2020, the jury wrote: ‘Violinist Shin Sihan binds outstanding musicians and tempts them to join him in his musical adventure. Together with them, he creates magical moments and captivates his audience.’ One of those outstanding musicians is the young Spanish pianist Gorka Plada Girón.
Schumann, Milhaud & Bartok
Shortly after the somewhat dark First Violin Sonata, Robert Schumann composed a second one, which is more cheerful, radiant and at the same time introspective than the first. The beautiful melodies, romantic harmonies and strong contrasts are typical of Schumann. Darius Milhaud wrote what would one day become the ballet Le boeuf sur le toit, originally as film music for violin and piano. The virtuoso, festive piece is inspired by music he had heard in Brazil. Béla Bartók’s Second Violin Sonata is not an easy piece for violinists, which the composer already knew: ‘The violin part is exceptionally difficult and only a first-class violinist has any chance to play it.’ Fortunately, Shin Sihan is such a first-class violinist, and you can enjoy Bartók’s powerful, unique tonal language, full of subtle references to Hungarian folk music.
