Het Nederlands Blazers Ensemble smacht, fluistert, huilt en ontroert met Berlioz’ krachtige vrouwen. Met deze voorstelling treden de Blazers in de voetsporen van de excentrieke componist. De revolutionaire Symphonie Fantastique draait om een sterke, maar onbereikbare vrouw in een verhaal vol obsessie, waanzin, jaloezie en moord. In La Mort de Cléopâtre kiest Cleopatra, een charismatische en onverschrokken vrouw, voor zelfmoord boven gevangenschap, waarmee ze haar lot in eigen handen neemt. Deze meesterlijk geïnstrumenteerde composities zijn speciaal voor het NBE getransformeerd naar een spectaculaire blazersbezetting. Een krachtige zangeres voegt een extra vrouwelijk tintje toe aan deze expressieve voorstelling, die barst van drama, verlangen en tragiek.

In La Mort de Cléopâtre, Cleopatra, a charismatic and fearless woman, chooses suicide over imprisonment, taking her fate into her own hands. These masterfully orchestrated compositions have been transformed especially for the NBE into a spectacular blazer ensemble. A powerful singer adds an extra feminine touch to this expressive performance, bursting with drama, longing and tragedy.
