Muziek en taal als troost
Al zolang de mensheid bestaat wordt er op momenten van bezinning gebruik gemaakt van de helende werking van muziek en tekst. Speciaal voor Allerzielen brengen sopraan Klaartje van Veldhoven, het Hermitage Kwartet en dichter Jibbe Willems een vertelconcert waarbij troostrijke muziek voor zang en strijkers afgewisseld wordt met nieuwe teksten van Willems.
Er klinken delen uit het beroemde strijkkwartet Der Tod und das Mädchen van Franz Schubert en het 3e strijkkwartet van Robert Schumann, en liederen voor zang en strijkkwartet van Puccini, Wagner en Strauss. Toepasselijk sluit het concert af met het geliefde Morgen uit de Vier Letzte Lieder van Richard Strauss, dat misschien wel de meest troostrijke tekst uit de romantische muziekliteratuur herbergt: Und Morgen wird die Sonne wieder scheinen.
Jibbe Willems
Jibbe Willems is een Nederlandse dichter en theaterauteur. Hij studeerde aan de Toneelacademie Maastricht en schrijft voor onder andere het Nationaal Theater, Toneelgroep Maastricht en ITA. Daarnaast heeft hij een wekelijkse radiorubriek bij de Ochtend van Vier op NPO Radio Klassiek. Met zijn werk is hij tweemaal genomineerd voor de Toneelschrijfprijs en won hij twee Zilveren en één Gouden Krekel, als prijs voor de meest indrukwekkende jeugdtheatervoorstelling.
Klaartje van Veldhoven en het Hermitage Kwartet
Sopraan Klaartje van Veldhoven is een veelgevraagd solist in binnen- en buitenland. Het NRC noemde haar recentelijk een ‘zangeres met lef en smaak’, en ze staat bekend om haar heldere stemgeluid en integere interpretaties. Klaartje is regelmatig te horen op NPO Klassiek, zowel live als zangeres als ook als gast-panellid bij het programma Diskotabel.
Het Hermitage Kwartet is sinds 2015 het vaste festivalkwartet van het Aurora Festival (voormalig Peter de Grote Festival) te Groningen. Daar speelt het kwartet jaarlijks grote werken uit het strijkkwartet repertoire. Daarnaast geeft het kwartet ook vele concerten buiten het jaarlijks terugkerende festival, waaronder in de Hermitage Amsterdam en meerdere malen in het festival van Emmy Verhey.

Music and language as consolation
For as long as humanity has existed, the healing effects of music and text have been used in moments of reflection. Specially for All Souls’ Day, soprano Klaartje van Veldhoven, the Hermitage String Quartet and poet Jibbe Willems perform a narrative concert in which consolatory music for voice and strings alternates with new texts by Willems.
Movements of Franz Schubert’s famous string quartet Death and the Maiden and Robert Schumann’s 3rd string quartet will be played, as well as a selection of songs for voice and string quartet by Puccini, Wagner and Strauss. Appropriately, the concert closes with the much-loved ‘Morgen’ from Richard Strauss’s Vier Letzte Lieder, which includes perhaps the most comforting text in Romantic music literature: ‘Und Morgen wird die Sonne wieder scheinen’.
Jibbe Willems
Jibbe Willems is a Dutch poet and stage actor. He studied at the Institute of Performative Arts in Maastricht and worked as a playwright for the Dutch National Theatre, Toneelgroep Maastricht and ITA, among others. He also has a weekly radio column at the Ochtend van Vier on NPO Radio Klassiek, the Dutch radio station for classical music. His work has been nominated twice for the Toneelschrijfprijs and won two Silver and one Golden Cricket, the Dutch award for the most impressive youth theatre performance.
Klaartje van Veldhoven and the Hermitage Kwartet
Soprano Klaartje van Veldhoven is in great demand as a soloist in the Netherlands and abroad. The NRC recently called her a ‘singer with guts and taste’, and she is known for her clear voice and honest interpretations. Klaartje can regularly be heard on radio station NPO Klassiek, both live as a singer and also as a guest panelist on the programme Diskotabel.
The Hermitage Kwartet has been the regular festival quartet of the Aurora Festival (formerly Peter de Grote Festival) in Groningen since 2015. There, the quartet plays major works from the string quartet repertoire every year. The quartet also gives many concerts outside the annual festival, including at the Hermitage Amsterdam and several times at Emmy Verhey’s festival.
