Het is het Calefax rietkwintet wel toevertrouwd: een humoristische muziekvoorstelling zonder woorden maar met héél véél muziek. Van de Britse Renaissancecomponist William Byrd tot de melodieuze 20e-eeuwse Rus Sergej Prokofjev. Neem je kind(eren) van zes jaar of ouder mee! En geniet ook zelf want de voorstelling De Muziekfabriek wordt al jaren met veel succes gespeeld.
Betoverend
In 2012 was De Muziekfabriek winnaar van de Junge Ohrenpreis. Calefax speelde hem op tournees die gingen van Luxemburg tot China. Over het ensemble zelf schreef NRC Handelsblad: ‘Het kwintet speelt wonderschoon […] Het heeft geen […] plot nodig om kinderen te betoveren’, om te vervolgen: ‘Op zulke momenten wordt voelbaar wat de kracht is van muziektheater voor kinderen.’
De mooiste muziekinstrumenten
De vijf mannen van Calefax werken in een fabriek waar heel speciale verrekijkers worden gemaakt. Ze doen elke dag hetzelfde werk en dat bevalt ze prima. Hun handelingen zijn zó goed op elkaar afgestemd en klinken zó mooi, dat het lijkt alsof ze muziek maken. Maar dat hebben ze zelf niet in de gaten. Als op een dag een opdracht verkeerd wordt uitgevoerd, komt het werk stil te vallen. Er is paniek. Totdat de mannen ontdekken wat er allemaal met buizen mogelijk is en ze flink gaan experimenteren. Dan blijkt dat ze in staat zijn om van buizen de mooiste muziekinstrumenten te maken. De orders stromen weer binnen en De Muziekfabriek is een feit. Nu moeten ze nog een manier vinden om de muziek vast te leggen zodat die niet verloren gaat…

The finest instruments
The five men of Calefax work in a factory that makes very special binoculars. They do the same job every day and they like it. Their actions are so well coordinated and sound so beautiful that it seems like they are making music. But they don’t realize it themselves. One day, when a task is performed incorrectly, the work comes to a halt. There is panic. Until the men discover what is possible with tubes and start experimenting. Then it turns out that they are able to make the most beautiful musical instruments from tubes. The orders start pouring in again and The Music Factory is a fact. Now they have to find a way to record the music so that it will not be lost…
