The Palestinian singer, flutist, and composer Nai Barghouti has developed a unique and distinctive sound by blending Arabic musical styles with jazz-inspired vocal improvisation: NaiStrumentation. Nai sings with elaborate ornamentations, using her voice as an instrument, capturing the essence of the music through sounds rather than words. This program features Arabic classics by Umm Kulthum and Fairouz, as well as Barghouti’s own compositions, arranged for a string orchestra, flute, jazz piano, percussion, bass guitar, and qanûn, seamlessly interwoven with classical and contemporary works for string ensemble.
