Schubert: Music for Violin and Piano Part I
Stadsgehoorzaal. They presented a programme bringing music from around the First World War to life and examined the musical friendship between Robert and Clara Schumann and Brahms. This season, in two concerts, they immerse themselves entirely in music for violin and piano by Franz Schubert.
Shunske Sato & Shuann Chai
Violinist Shunske Sato and pianist Shuann Chai are unusually versatile. They are equally at home on historical and modern instruments and are known for their deep immersion in the music. They look beyond the notes and read everything they can about the composer and his time. After absorbing this knowledge, they try to let it go and tell their own story. Anyone who has previously attended one of their concerts in the Aalmarktzaal knows that the two perform with astonishing knowledge, technique and taste. As classical programmer Susanne Lammers noted after their Prokofiev performance last January: “Shunske, simply extraordinary. You can only sit and listen open mouthed. Such daring. Breathtakingly new and utterly convincing.”
