In Two Tales vertellen jonge opkomende dansmakers indringende verhalen met stevige wortels in de overleveringen en gebruiken van hun geboortegrond. Choreografenduo Danae & Dionysios (Free at Last) en choreograaf Erika Maria Silgoner (The Mourning) zijn beide winnaars van de XL Production Award van de Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC).

Free at last
Intrigerende dansrituelen en de intense en mystieke sfeer maken van dit dansstuk een overweldigende ervaring. Free at last is gebaseerd op een bekende Griekse mythe over de onafhankelijkheidsstrijd. Een groep vrouwen danst als teken van verzet hun laatste dans op de rand van een klif. Met hun thuisland en oude Griekse verhalen als inspiratiebronnen, maakt het choreografenduo Danae & Dionysios een sfeervol en indringend dansstuk over de cyclus van het leven en tradities die van generatie op generatie worden doorgegeven.
The Mourning
Het dansstuk The Mourning is een liefdesverhaal, klucht en tragedie ineen. Vanuit haar Siciliaanse achtergrond maakt choreografe en theatermaakster Erika Silgoner met acht dansers een levendige en filmische choreografie. Verdriet, humor, ironie, passie, en hilarische momenten wisselen elkaar af. Met adembenemende partnering en virtuoze dans weet Silgoner de aandacht van het publiek van het begin tot het verrassende eind vast te houden.
Erika Silgoner is oprichter van Esklan Art’s Factory, een innovatief, jong Italiaans gezelschap dat wereldwijd voorstellingen geeft. Vanwege haar originaliteit werd zij gevraagd een choreografie te maken voor een gedeelte van de slotceremonie van de Olympische winterspelen in Peking.

Free at last
Intriguing dance rituals and the intense and mystical atmosphere make this performance an overwhelming experience. Free at last is based on a well-known Greek myth about the struggle for independence. A group of women dance their last dance on the edge of a cliff as a sign of resistance. With their homeland and ancient Greek stories as sources of inspiration, the choreographer duo Danae & Dionysios creates a penetrating dance piece about the cycle of life and traditions that are passed on from generation to generation.
The Mourning
The dance piece The Mourning is a love story, farce and tragedy combined. Rooted in her Sicilian background, choreographer and theater maker Erika Silgoner creates a lively and cinematic choreography with eight dancers. Sadness, comedy, irony, passion, and hilarious moments alternate. With breathtaking partnering and brilliant dancing, Silgoner manages to keep the audience’s attention from the beginning to the surprising end.
Erika Silgoner is founder of Eklan Art’s Factory, an innovative, young Italian company that performs worldwide. Because of her unique style, she was asked to choreograph part of the closing ceremony of the Olympic winter games in Peking.
