Zo schreef The Strad na een concert in de prestigieuze Londsense Wigmore Hall: ‘Dynamic contouring was as sleek and elegant as an Armani suit, and it tailored the music to perfection.’

In their current formation, the Quartetto di Cremona has been playing at the very highest level for 20 years. They are praised for their idiosyncratic interpretations and wonderful sound. The quartet originated in the Italian town of Cremona, the cradle of violin making, where builders such as Stradivari and Amati made their still unsurpassed instruments. The two violinists play on an Amati and a Guadagnini violin; the quartet’s acclaimed sound is partly due to this. The Quartetto di Cremona has been showered with awards and everywhere they play, press and audiences love them. For instance, after a concert at the prestigious London Wigmore Hall, acclaimed music magazine The Strad wrote: ‘Dynamic contouring was as sleek and elegant as an Armani suit, and it tailored the music to perfection.’
Ravel, Debussy and Malipiero
In this wonderful programme, the Italians bring together two French impressionists with the music of their compatriot Gian Francesco Malipiero. The latter was influenced as much by the Italian Baroque as by Paul Hindemith, Stravinsky and Schoenberg. By contrast, the richness of sound of Ravel’s and Debussy’s quartets is unparalleled.
