Na de voltooiing van de klimaattrilogie met de dansopera NOW WE ARE EARTH, richt Nicole Beutler Projects zich op nieuwe perspectieven op de toekomst van de mens op aarde. Hier ontstaan politiek-poëtische voorstellingen die een inclusieve samenleving nastreven en aandacht vragen voor sociale rechtvaardigheid en inheemse kennis. Voor deze productie zocht Beutler daarom een samenwerking op met Michelle Schenandoah, oprichter van Rematriation – een organisatie die opkomt voor de stem van inheemse vrouwen.
ROOM IN OUR HOUSE bevat Engelstalige gesproken tekst. DDe voorstelling van nóg dichterbij meemaken? Er zijn 22 plaatsen op het podium beschikbaar. Je kunt deze reserveren in de bestelomgeving.

Two men meet. In their bodies lies their strength. Both dancers live in the here and now, yet they are connected by a complex colonial history. One is the child of survivors, the other the heir of oppressors. Two worlds collide. Is peace possible?
A search for peace and connection
ROOM IN OUR HOUSE offers a boundary pushing countervoice in times of crisis. Inspired by the centuries old peace treaty between the Netherlands and the Haudenosaunee, the NBP team immersed itself in their community in the United States, a world shaped by democracy, equality and gentleness.
Under the direction of inspirational speaker Michelle Schenandoah (Oneida Haudenosaunee) and choreographer and theatre maker Nicole Beutler (Dutch German), with texts by Indigenous writer and activist Ty Defoe, ROOM IN OUR HOUSE invites the audience to reflect on each person’s role and responsibility in the ongoing search for peace.

Following the completion of the climate trilogy with the dance opera NOW WE ARE EARTH, Nicole Beutler Projects turns to new perspectives on the future of humanity on Earth. These politically poetic performances explore an inclusive society and draw attention to social justice and Indigenous knowledge. For this production, Beutler collaborates with Michelle Schenandoah, founder of Rematriation, an organisation that advocates for the voices of Indigenous women.
ROOM IN OUR HOUSE contains English spoken text. The open air version premieres at Oerol 2026, the theatre version at Julidans.
