No one is too small is het nieuwe project van het Maat Saxophone Quartet. Hiermee roept het gelauwerde ensemble mensen op om in actie te komen tegen klimaatverandering. Via een muzikale voorstelling in combinatie met eenvoudige maar krachtige tekeningen, wil het ensemble inspireren en een proces vereenvoudigen dat voor zoveel individuen overweldigend en hopeloos is.

‘We willen laten zien dat ontkenning geen keuze is, dat de wereld dringend actie moet ondernemen en dat een collectieve, proactieve en zorgzame houding ten opzichte van klimaatverandering de koers echt zal veranderen. Niemand is te klein om in actie te komen. Geen actie is te klein om het verschil te maken.’

Het Maat Saxophone Quartet heeft als thuisbasis Amsterdam. De vier musici geloven in de kracht van nieuwe muziek. Het ensemble creëert in zijn concerten betekenisvolle concepten over actuele onderwerpen. En dat wordt opgepakt! Zo won het onder andere de Dutch Classical Talent Award 2021/2022.
Beeldende kunst
De uitvoering wordt een meeslepende concertervaring met een duidelijke boodschap, waarin hedendaagse muziek van jonge componisten versmelt met beeldende kunst. De muziek is gecomponeerd door Peter Vigh, Camiel Jansen, Frieda Gustavs, Camila Menino en Ana Roque. De tekeningen, in opdracht van de Bonairiaanse kunstenares Adriana Oliveira, worden als prints op het podium getoond (met De Tuin der Lusten van Jeroen Bosch als inspiratie), op een lichtplan van Wilfred Loopstra. Het Maat Saxophone Quartet werkt samen met Camiel Jansen als co-creator en artistiek leider van het project, en met Hanneke Last als theater- en scenografieadviseur.

No one is too small is the Maat Saxophone Quartet’s new project. With it, the award-winning ensemble calls on people to take action against climate change. Through a musical performance combined with simple yet powerful drawings, the ensemble aims to inspire and simplify a process that is overwhelming and hopeless for so many individuals.

Topical
The Maat Saxophone Quartet is based in Amsterdam. The four musicians believe in the power of new music. In its concerts, the ensemble creates meaningful concepts about current topics. And that gets picked up! Among other things, it won the Dutch Classical Talent Award 2021/2022.
Visual arts
The performance will be an immersive concert experience with a clear message, fusing contemporary music by young composers with visual art. The music is composed by Peter Vigh, Camiel Jansen, Frieda Gustavs, Camila Menino and Ana Roque. The drawings, commissioned by Bonairean artist Adriana Oliveira, are displayed as prints on stage (using The Garden of Delights by Hieronymus Bosch as inspiration), on a lighting plan by Wilfred Loopstra. The Maat Saxophone Quartet is working with Camiel Jansen as co-creator and artistic director of the project, and with Hanneke Last as theater and scenography consultant.
