HEAR\\HERE: speciaal geselecteerde concerten, inclusief afterparty! Je drankje mag mee de zaal in en na afloop is de bar geopend en staat de DJ klaar in Café Caat, het theatercafé van de Stadsgehoorzaal. De dood en het meisje
Op de vooravond van Halloween duikt HEAR\\HERE headfirst het graf in en speelt het Dudok Quartet de mooiste klassieke muziek over de dood. Het beroemde strijkkwartet Der Tod und das Mädchen van Franz Schubert wordt vanavond geflankeerd door composities van Gesualdo, Moessorgski en Liszt: andere componisten die zich ook door dit levensgrote thema hebben laten inspireren. Klassieke muziek die je gehoord móet hebben!
Dudok Quartet Amsterdam
Het prijswinnende Dudok Quartet Amsterdam zet zichzelf op de kaart als een van de meest creatieve en veelzijdige kwartetten van zijn generatie. Met als missie “sharing the heart of music” stelt het Dudok Quartet unieke en eclectische programma’s samen, waarmee het op nieuwe en inventieve manieren zijn publiek weet te bereiken. Het kwartet is constant op zoek naar nieuwe connecties en dwarsverbanden binnen de muziek, in een repertoire dat reikt van Ligeti en Sjostakovitsj tot aan Mozart en Beethoven. Sinds 2015 bracht het kwartet meer dan 10 albums uit en is een graag geziene gast op podia in binnen- en buitenland.
Intro Talk
Voorafgaand aan dit concert gaan Dudok primarius Judith en cellist David met programmeur Eva Traa in gesprek over de muziek die ze deze avond spelen en over het leven als full-time strijkkwartet (dat niet voor niks een huwelijk tussen vier mensen genoemd wordt). Ideaal voor iedereen die zich voorafgaand aan het concert alvast in de muziek wilt verdiepen! De Intro Talk start om 19.30 uur in de Aalmarktzaal en is gratis toegankelijk.

Death and the Maiden
The night before Halloween, HEAR\\HERE dives headfirst into the grave, and the Dudok Quartet plays the most beautiful classical music about death. Franz Schubert’s famous string quartet “Der Tod und das Mädchen” (The Death and the Maiden) is flanked tonight by compositions by Gesualdo, Mussorgsky, and Liszt: other composers who were also inspired by this life-size theme. Classical music you simply must hear!
Dudok Quartet Amsterdam
The award-winning Dudok Quartet Amsterdam has established itself as one of the most creative and versatile quartets of its generation. With its mission of “sharing the heart of music”, the Dudok Quartet puts together unique and eclectic programmes, with which it reaches its audience in new and inventive ways. The quartet is constantly looking for new connections and cross-connections within music, in a repertoire that ranges from Ligeti, Shostakovich and Weinberg to Mendelssohn, Mozart and Beethoven. With this intelligent approach and daring programming style, they also regularly play their own arrangements for string quartet, including works by Gesualdo, Desprez, Shostakovich, Brahms and Messiaen. Since 2015, the quartet has released more than 10 albums and is a welcome guest on international concert stages.
Intro Talk
Before this concert, Dudok primarius Judith and cellist David will talk to programmer Eva Traa about the music they will play this evening and about life as a full-time string quartet (which is not called a marriage of four people for nothing). Ideal for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the music before the concert! The Intro Talk starts at 19:30 in the Aalmarktzaal and is free of charge.
