Met Gespiegeld/Miroirs presenteren Cappella Amsterdam, chef-dirigent Daniel Reuss en de versatiele pianiste Lestari Scholtes een rijk programma dat de honderdvijftigste verjaardag van Ravel viert. De werken van Ravel, die als als een rode draad door het programma lopen, vormen een prachtige eenheid, verrijkt door alle contrasten, overeenkomsten en dialogen tussen koor en piano. Wat dit programma óók uniek maakt, is een arrangement voor piano en koor van het wonderschone Adagio uit Ravels Pianoconcert in G.
Ravels delicate Pavane pour une infante défunte en Faurés opzwepende Les djinns benadrukken het dynamische samenspel tussen piano en koor. Het koor komt prachtig tot zijn recht in Ravels Trois Chansons en Poulencs Sept chansons, en roept beelden van hemelse schoonheid op in Ešenvalds’ Stars. Het programma bereikt zijn hoogtepunt in Gershwins pittige Summertime en I Got Rhythm, een getuigenis van de levendige energie van piano en stem.

Cappella Amsterdam en Lestari Scholtes
Cappella Amsterdam behoort tot de absolute vocale top van Nederland. Het kamerkoor zingt repertoire van Palestrina tot Pärt en weet met hun unieke klank elke keer weer te excelleren. Zeker onder leiding van Daniel Reuss, die al sinds 1990 chef-dirigent is van Cappella Amsterdam behoort het koor tot de beste kamerkoren ter wereld.
Lestari Scholtes is een internationaal gelauwerde pianiste, bekend van haar optredens in onder meer het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Carnegie Hall New York en Kioi Hall Tokio. Zowel solistisch als in kamermuziekverband staat zij garant voor expressiviteit, precisie en muzikaal raffinement. Eerder werkte zij samen met toonaangevende musici als Thomas Oliemans, Rosanne Philippens, Daniel Rowland en het New European Ensemble.
