Alban Berg componeerde op jonge leeftijd de eendelige Sonate nr. 1 voor piano, een ingetogen stuk dat kracht en puurheid uitstraalt. Mozarts expressieve pianoconcert “Jeunehomme”, virtuoos en vol flair, vormt een lichtvoetige tegenhanger. Mozart schreef dit concert voor het uitzonderlijke pianotalent Victoire Jenamy, juffrouw Jeunehomme, door de legendarische pianist Brendel ‘one of the greatest wonders of the world’ genoemd. Solist is de voortreffelijke, blinde pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. Zijn interpretatie van Mozarts pianoconcerten worden wereldwijd geroemd. Strauss’ Metamorphosen wordt beschouwd als een van de meest aangrijpende werken van de 20e eeuw. Getroffen door de verwoestingen in de Tweede Wereldoorlog schreef Strauss met dit stuk een emotionele reflectie op verlies en destructie, die de luisteraar dwingt stil te staan bij de vergankelijkheid van schoonheid.
Amsterdam Sinfonietta
Amsterdam Sinfonietta is een strijkersensemble bestaande uit 23 musici van topniveau die samenspelen als één. Het orkest toert over de hele wereld met avontuurlijke programma’s en cross-overs met andere muziekgenres en kunstvormen. Het draagt het eigen genre uit en vernieuwt het op het allerhoogste niveau. Met veel liefde omarmt Amsterdam Sinfonietta het volledige repertoire voor strijkorkest, van klassiekers tot nieuwe opdrachtwerken en arrangementen.

Alban Berg composed his one-movement Piano Sonata No. 1 at a young age, a restrained piece that radiates strength and purity. Mozart’s expressive Piano Concerto No. 9 “Jeunehomme”, virtuosic and full of flair, forms a lighthearted counterpart. Mozart wrote this concerto for the exceptional piano talent Victoire Jenamy, known as Mademoiselle Jeunehomme, whom the legendary pianist Brendel called ‘one of the greatest wonders of the world.’ The soloist is the exceptional blind pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii. His interpretations of Mozart’s piano concertos are acclaimed worldwide. Strauss’ Metamorphosen is considered one of the most moving works of the 20th century. Struck by the devastation of World War II, Strauss wrote this piece as an emotional reflection on loss and destruction, forcing the listener to pause and reflect on the transience of beauty.
