De laatste Mendelssohn
Huisensemble Amsterdam Sinfonietta en stercellist Kian Soltani bundelen na groot succes opnieuw hun krachten.
Kian Soltani
In 2020 was cellist Kian Soltani voor het eerst te gast bij Amsterdam Sinfonietta met het programma Road to Iran. In maart 2023 krijgt de succesvolle samenwerking met deze Oostenrijkse topsolist van Iraanse afkomst een vervolg. Soltani soleert in het zeer populaire en virtuoze Celloconcert in D van Joseph Haydn en in het Adagio uit zijn 13e symfonie. Ook is voor hem een rol weggelegd in korte liederen van Schubert en Mendelssohn.
Mendelssohn
Felix Mendelssohn, groot bewonderaar van Haydn, zorgde ervoor dat veel van Haydns werken weer werden uitgevoerd. Zijn geliefde zus, Fanny Hensel, stierf onverwacht in 1847. In de maanden daarna componeerde Mendelssohn zijn laatste dramatische strijkkwartet. Kort na het voltooien van het werk stierf de componist zelf op 38-jarige leeftijd. Zo werd het niet alleen een requiem voor zijn zus, maar ook voor hemzelf.

Our own Amsterdam Sinfonietta and star cellist Kian Soltani join forces again after great success.
Kian Soltanic
In 2020, cellist Kian Soltani was a guest at Amsterdam Sinfonietta for the first time with the programme Road to Iran. In March 2023, the successful collaboration with this Austrian top soloist of Iranian descent will be continued. Soltani will solo in the very popular and virtuoso Cello Concerto in D by Joseph Haydn and in the Adagio from his 13th Symphony. He also plays a role in short songs by Schubert and Mendelssohn.
Mendelssohn
Felix Mendelssohn, a great admirer of Haydn, made sure many of Haydn’s works were performed again. His beloved sister, Fanny Hensel, died unexpectedly in 1874. In the months that followed, Mendelssohn composed his last dramatic string quartet. Shortly after completing the work, the composer himself died at the age of 38. Thus it became a requiem not only for his sister, but also for himself.
