Precies vijftig jaar na het iconische afscheidsconcert van The Band brengen de Dawn Brothers The Last Waltz opnieuw tot leven. Met een indrukwekkende groep gastmuzikanten en een strikt beperkte reeks concerten belooft dit een unieke avond te worden waarin muzikale geschiedenis en hedendaagse energie samenkomen.

Precies vijftig jaar na het legendarische afscheidsconcert van The Band brengen de Rotterdamse Dawn Brothers The Last Waltz naar de Nederlandse theaters. Met slechts dertien concerten in november en december 2026 is dit geen tour die je “nog wel een keer meepakt”, maar een zeldzame kans om erbij te zijn. Het optreden in Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden maakt deel uit van deze uitzonderlijk beperkte reeks.
Op 25 november 1976 nam The Band afscheid in de Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Het concert werd vereeuwigd in de beroemde film van Martin Scorsese en groeide uit tot een cultureel ijkpunt. Met hun eigenzinnige mix van rock, folk, country en blues drukte The Band een onuitwisbare stempel op de muziekgeschiedenis en legden zij de basis voor wat we vandaag Americana noemen.
De Dawn Brothers hebben hun geluid diep verankerd in de folkrock- en Americana-traditie. Met hun meerstemmige zang en rauwe, energieke live-aanpak zijn zij zonder twijfel de aangewezen band om dit eerbetoon te dragen. Niet voor niets staan ze al jaren op toonaangevende podia, van North Sea Jazz tot Americanafest in Nashville.
& Friends: Een avond vol muzikale zwaargewichten
Voor deze speciale Leidse editie worden de Dawn Brothers vergezeld door een selectie bijzondere gastartiesten. Samen vormen zij een dwarsdoorsnede van de parels van de hedendaagse Nederlandse roots- en Americana-scene, aangevuld met toonaangevende internationale muzikanten die Nederland als thuisbasis hebben.
Op het podium in Leiden staan onder anderen soulpowerhouse Michelle David, singer-songwriter Tim Knol, de charismatische stem van Cato van Dijck (My Baby), woordkunstenaar en performer Nico Dijkshoorn, bluesvirtuoos Ian Siegal, drummer en zanger Darryl Ciggaar, yéyé-popicoon Fleur Elman en natuurlijk Pablo van de Poel, gitarist van DeWolff – de band die de Dawn Brothers met trots tot hun muzikale ‘besties’ rekenen.

Exactly fifty years after the legendary farewell concert by The Band, the Rotterdam-based Dawn Brothers bring The Last Waltz to theatres across the Netherlands. With only thirteen performances in November and December 2026, this is not a tour you “catch next time,” but a rare opportunity to be part of something special. The show at Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden is part of this exceptionally limited series.
On November 25, 1976, The Band said goodbye at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. The concert was immortalised in Martin Scorsese’s famous film and has since grown into a cultural landmark. With their distinctive blend of rock, folk, country and blues, The Band left an indelible mark on music history and laid the foundations for what we now call Americana.
The Dawn Brothers have their sound deeply rooted in the folk-rock and Americana tradition. With their rich harmonies and raw, energetic live approach, they are without a doubt the right band to carry this tribute. It comes as no surprise that they have appeared on leading stages such as North Sea Jazz and Americanafest in Nashville.

For this special Leiden edition, the Dawn Brothers will be joined by a selection of outstanding guest artists. Together they represent a cross-section of today’s finest Dutch roots and Americana scene, complemented by leading international musicians who have made the Netherlands their home.
Taking the stage in Leiden are, among others, soul powerhouse Michelle David, singer-songwriter Tim Knol, the charismatic voice of Cato van Dijck (My Baby), poet and performer Nico Dijkshoorn, blues virtuoso Ian Siegal, drummer and vocalist Darryl Ciggaar, yéyé-pop icon Fleur Elman, and of course Pablo van de Poel, guitarist of DeWolff — a band the Dawn Brothers proudly count among their musical best friends.
50 Years The Last Waltz at Stadsgehoorzaal Leiden is a one-off live experience celebrating a legendary concert with the urgency and spirit of the present day. An evening not to be missed.
