A physical, musical, and visual narrative about the realignment between humans and their habitat.

Nature’s Call explores how humans, cities, and nature lose their balance and how that balance can be restored. Through the lens of four individuals and their resonance, the piece reveals how shifts occur and how collective cohesion regains its form and meaning.

The Tension

Our world is under tension. The pace is accelerating, cities are growing, digital flows are increasing, and the climate is changing. We move along with it, but not always in sync. The way we live shapes the climate that surrounds us. The climate between people is also shifting. When we no longer listen to or sense one another, cohesion falls out of balance. What falls out of balance loses its rhythm. Through four perspectives, we can feel how individual identity grows into shared cohesion.

The Concept

Nature’s Call is based on a fundamental idea: everything vibrates. People, cities, nature, and technology all move at different frequencies. When these frequencies collide, noise is created. When they align, a shared rhythm emerges. These patterns are visible, from sound waves shaping matter to the dynamics between people. In this performance, the dancers serve as measuring instruments. They influence and respond to their environment. Speed, pressure, disruption, and emotion translate into breathing, cadence, muscle tension, and sound. What emerges from this becomes palpable in the space and within one another.

The Form

Movement influences sound, sound shapes image, and image in turn directs the body. Through The Well, a central set piece, the dancers manipulate music and visuals in real time. Cymatic projections make frequency tangible and show how vibration translates into form and proportion. Amid large, organically moving projection screens, explosive group choreography alternates with tranquil solos and duets in which personal experiences resonate. Acceleration and stillness coexist, just as in nature where wind, storm, and silence together determine the balance.

In Nature’s Call, Xclusiv blends urban and modern dance with electronic soundscapes, vocals, and spoken word into a layered theatrical experience in which personal identity evolves into a collective message:

The Company

Xclusiv Company (XCCC) is Rotterdam’s urban dance company and, under the artistic direction of Jason R. Jeandor and the business leadership of Osman Batal, has been operating at the intersection of urban arts and theater for over twenty years. The company combines breakdance, voguing, hip-hop, and modern dance with electronic music, spoken word, and visual art.

Drawing on this interdisciplinary approach, Xclusiv translates current social themes into physical and theatrical narratives. The work reflects the diverse DNA of the Netherlands and connects personal identity with collective meaning.

The Message

Through four perspectives, we can sense how a lack of balance can give way to realignment, and how personal resonance grows into collective cohesion. Nature’s Call invites the audience to listen anew, to feel, to attune themselves, and to take responsibility for the rhythm we create together.
