The Man who fell from the sky toont de mens die zich, zonder houvast of kompas, moet verhouden tot een omgeving die aan verandering onderhevig is.
Voor The man who fell from the sky vervlecht Panama Pictures dans, lucht- en vloeracrobatiek en live muziek tot een indringende en poëtische beeldenreeks met een grote fysieke lading, waarbij de kracht en kwetsbaarheid van het menselijk lichaam voorop staan. Muzikant Budy Mokoginta creëert, met een mix van gitaar, stem en elektronica, een stevige sound die het geheel stuwt, kleurt en bij flarden ontregelt.

While everything in the universe strives towards chaos, humans are constantly trying to bring order. We want to explain, to understand. But we abolish most of the ideologies and structures that once helped us in that orientation; they were too limiting to serve as guideposts anymore. At the same time, the world seems to be on fire and one crisis overshadows another. What are we left with now?
Panama Pictures’ new show The Man who fell from the sky captures this collective sense of directionlessness and dislocation. The performers seem washed up there. High in the sky, they hang from branches of an uprooted tree, balancing on moving platforms. Is this the aftermath of a disaster? The omen of a great change? The Man who fell from the sky shows humankind having to cope, without a foothold or compass, with an environment undergoing massive changes.
For The man who fell from the sky, Panama Pictures intertwines dance, aerial and floor acrobatics and live music to create a compelling and poetic visual series with great physicality, focusing on the strength and fragility of the human body. Musician Budy Mokoginta, with a mix of guitar, voice and electronics, creates a solid sound that propels, colours and, in patches, disrupts the scene.
