The Oscillating Revenge of the Background Instruments
Sven Figee, Rick Stotijn, Bram van Sambeek, Marijn Korff de Gidts: het zijn allemaal ‘household names’ in de Nederlandse muziekwereld. Verenigd noemen ze zich ORBI, ofwel ‘The Oscillating Revenge of the Background Instruments’. In hun zoektocht naar een creatieve benadering van muziek en een voorliefde voor alternatieve muziekgenres spelen ze The Age of Greed: een concert waarin ze romantische kamermuziek voor deze ongebruikelijke formatie op mogelijk nóg ongebruikelijkere manier combineren met rock- en metalnummers. De musici dagen elkaar continu uit door bijvoorbeeld virtuoze gitaarsolo’s na te bootsen met een fagot of contrabas. Van een symfonie van Mahler tot aan Radiohead en Muse: aan het einde van dit concert is geen enkele muzikale grens meer heel!
