De Junior Company van Het Nationale Ballet heeft niet alleen al veel nieuw danstalent voortgebracht, het jongerenensemble staat ook garant voor de opbouw van een eigen en veelzijdig repertoire. In het nieuwe tourneeprogramma Made in NL presenteert de groep maar liefst drie premièrewerken van vrouwelijke, in Nederland gevestigde choreografen, gecombineerd met hoogtepunten uit het oeuvre van Hollandse Meesters; Hans van Manen en Rudi van Dantzig.
Zoë Greten en Milena Sidorova maken beiden een nieuwe creatie voor Made in NL. De pas 22 -jarige Greten won in 2015 met een eigen solo het tv-programma Superkids. Daarna maakte ze als student van de Nationale Balletacademie diverse werken en in 2022 creëerde ze haar eerste werk voor de Junior Company, If only I knew the right way, dat haar lovende kritieken opleverde. Ook Milena Sidorova, sinds 2021 Young Creative Associate van Het Nationale Ballet, maakte al eerder succesvolle choreografieën voor de Junior Company – Withdrawn in 2017 en Bloom in 2022 – en duikt voor dit programma opnieuw met de Junioren de studio in.
Banksy
Het derde premièrewerk in Made in NL is afkomstig van Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, die na haar hitproductie Frida – in februari 2024 nog uitgevoerd door Het Nationale Ballet – nu met Scurry Night haar debuut bij de Junior Company maakt. Lopez Ochoa creëerde dit opzwepende werk in 2021 voor de American Ballet Theatre Studio Company en liet zich hiervoor inspireren door kunstwerken van de beroemde graffiti-artiest Banksy, die worden gereflecteerd in zowel de choreografie als de kostuums.
Choreografische juweeltjes
Daarnaast waagt de Junior Company zich in Made in NL aan een beroemde, technisch veeleisende klassieker – de Pas de Six uit Rudi van Dantzigs alom geprezen Zwanenmeer – en aan Hans van Manens Visions Fugitives (1990). Hierin beantwoordt Van Manen de twintig korte delen van Prokofjevs gelijknamige pianocompositie met evenzoveel choreografische juweeltjes.

The Dutch National Ballet’s Junior Company has not only generated a consistent stream of new dance talent, the youth ensemble also produces its own and versatile repertoire. In their new programme Made in NL, the group presents as many as three brand-new works by female choreographers based in the Netherlands, combined with highlights from the oeuvres of Dutch Masters; Hans van Manen and Rudi van Dantzig.
Zoë Greten and Milena Sidorova are both created a new work for Made in NL. The only 22 -year-old Greten won the TV programme Superkids in 2015 with her own solo. Banksy
The third premiere work in Made in NL comes from Annabelle Lopez Ochoa. Choreographic gems
In Made in NL, the Junior Company also dives into a famous, technically demanding classics – the Pas de Six from Rudi van Dantzig’s widely praised Swan Lake — and into Hans van Manen’s Visions Fugitives (1990). In it, Van Manen answers the twenty short movements of Prokofiev’s piano composition of the same name with just as many choreographic gems.
