Het Kāna Trio kaart op spectaculaire wijze een spectaculair dringend probleem aan: hoe moeten wij ons verhouden tot de natuur? Zijn we er eigenlijk nog onderdeel van? Het Kāna Trio waadt door de menselijke herrie en vervuiling voor een helder antwoord. Het thema van klimaatverandering leent zich voor overrompelende percussie. Maar te midden van het spektakel overschreeuwen de percussionisten zichzelf niet. ‘Ze spelen feilloos samen. Krachtig, maar nooit te hard,’ aldus de jury van Dutch Classical Talent.
Kāna Trio
Het Nederlands-Portugese Kāna Trio won in 2024 de prestigieuze Dutch Classical Talent Award en was in 2022 winnaar van het Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours. Ook die jury benadrukte hun subtiliteit en muzikaliteit: ‘De jury was onder de indruk van het bezwerende […] samenspel. Het kleurenpalet reikte van fluisterzacht marimbageruis tot het meest onheilspellende oerwoudgeweld.’

Nature in music
The Kāna Trio addresses, in spectacular fashion, an urgent and pressing question: how should we relate to nature? Are we still truly part of it? The trio wades through human noise and pollution in search of a clear answer.
The theme of climate change lends itself to overwhelming percussion. Yet amid the spectacle, the performers never overpower themselves. “They play together flawlessly. Powerful, but never too loud,” said the jury of Dutch Classical Talent.
Kāna Trio
The Dutch-Portuguese Kāna Trio won the prestigious Dutch Classical Talent Award in 2024 and was the winner of the Grachtenfestival Conservatorium Concours in 2022. That jury also emphasised their subtlety and musicality: “The jury was impressed by the mesmerizing […] interplay. The palette of colours ranged from whisper-soft marimba rustling to the most ominous jungle violence.”
