Pianola Festival The Big Five

Voor het eerst samen op één podium: de mooiste pianola’s ter wereld.

Dit jaar viert de Nederlandse Pianola Vereniging haar 50-jarige jubileum. Een mooie gelegenheid om groots uit te pakken. En dus zijn we op zoek gegaan naar de mooiste en best spelende pianola’s ter wereld.  

Dit driedaagse festival zal definitief een einde maken aan het honkytonk-imago van dit bijzondere instrument. The Big Five laten bovendien het historische belang zien van het rollenarchief. Dankzij de pianola kunnen we nu nog steeds beluisteren hoe Sergej Rachmaninov en andere grote componisten hun eigen composities speelden. 

Zelfs echte pianola-connaisseurs krijgen zelden de kans een topinstrument te horen spelen. Tijdens het Pianola Festival worden The Big Five permanent tentoongesteld en natuurlijk zul je ze volop zien en horen spelen. In de historische Stadsgehoorzaal van Leiden laten we de hoogtijdagen van het pianolatijdperk herleven. 

Je kunt een passe-partout kopen of losse kaarten voor onderdelen van het festival.

  • In 2025, the Dutch Pianola Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary. What a great opportunity to go all out, we thought. And so we decided to go on a search for the finest player pianos we could find and present them to the world in a historic setting. 

    In the beautiful historic Concert Hall of Leiden The Big Five will recreate the heydays of the player piano era. During the three-day festival these magnificent player pianos will be on permanent display for you to admire up close. And of course, you will see and hear them play plenty.  

     The Big Five Festival will once and for all put an end to the honky-tonk image of the player piano. It will also demonstrate the historical importance of the roll archive. Thanks to the player piano we can still listen to Sergei Rachmaninoff and other great composers playing their own work.  

     Even true connoisseurs of the player piano rarely get the chance to hear a top-notch instrument play, so be prepared to be dazzled. 

     A three-day ticket will let you enjoy the full program. You can also buy separate tickets to attend one of the concerts or a keynote speech.
