Een dansduet met drones, een spel met relativiteit in een motion capture-pak en een dans met zandpatronen. In WAVE onderzoekt choreograaf David Middendorp in vijf stukken welke rol golfbewegingen spelen in ons leven en hoeveel invloed de mens heeft op deze golven. Elk stuk werpt zijn eigen blik op deze bijzondere dans tussen mens, natuur en technologie.
Haags gezelschap in grootste theaterzaal
Another Kind of Blue is het innovatieve Haagse dansgezelschap dat onder de artistieke leiding van David Middendorp dansvoorstellingen maakt waarin hedendaagse dans en technologie samensmelten tot een hybride kunstvorm.
Gefascineerd door de mooie en precieze manier waarop natuurkunde en wiskunde de wereld om ons heen beschrijven, vroeg Middendorp zich af hoe je natuurkunde en wiskunde kunt gebruiken om meer de gevoelskant van het leven te beschrijven. Zijn zoektocht kwam uit bij de golf, een bijzonder interessant natuurkundig fenomeen. De vier choreografieën waaruit WAVE bestaat, 15 Minute Universe, Airman, Hands ON Stage en Flyland werpen elk hun eigen blik op deze bijzondere verbinding tussen mens en natuurkunde.
AIRMAN
De betoverende dans tussen drones en mens uit 2018 is terug. In Airman (★★★★ Volkskrant) vormt een zwerm drones de belichaming van het menselijk bewustzijn.
HANDS ON STAGE
In 2020 ontwikkelde Middendorp de VR-voorstelling HandsOn waarin de handen en de taal die we met onze handen spreken centraal stonden. In Hands On Stage brengt hij een nieuwe ode aan de manier waarop we met onze handen communiceren.
15 MINUTE UNIVERSE
Dit stuk onderzoekt hoe het zou zijn als je in slechts vijftien minuten een heel universum kunt opbouwen en ook weer volledig kunt afbreken.
FLYLAND
In Flyland, lijken twee dansers zich in een vrije val te beleven langs de prachtige natuur van het waddeneiland Terschelling. David Middendorp laat het eiland tot leven komen en laat zien hoe belangrijk de verhouding tussen mens en natuur kan zijn.

In WAVE, choreographer David Middendorp investigates what role the movement of waves play in our lives in five different pieces and how much influence humans have on these waves. Each piece has its own view on this special dance between man, nature and technology.

Another Kind of Blue is an innovative dance company from The Hague that, under the artistic direction of David Middendorp, creates dance performances in which contemporary dance and technology merge into a hybrid art form.
Fascinated by the beautiful and precise way in which physics and mathematics describe the world around us, Middendorp wondered how physics and mathematics can be used to better describe the emotional side of life. His search let him to the wave, a particularly interesting physical phenomenon. The four choreographies in WAVE, 15 Minute Universe, Airman, Hands ON Stage and Flyland each cast their own view on the special connection between humans and physics.

The enchanting dance between drones and humans has returned. In Airman (★★★★ Volkskrant), a hive of drones symbolises the human consciousness.
HANDS ON STAGE
In 2020, Middendorp developed the VR performance HandsOn, in which the hands and the language we speak with our hands are the main point of focus. Hands On Stage is a new ode to the way we communicate with our hands.
15 MINUTE UNIVERSE
This piece explores what it would be like if an entire universe could be build in just 15 minutes and then be torn down completely.
FLYLAND
In Flyland, two dancers skim in an apparently free fall along the enchanting nature of the Wadden island of Terschelling, by which Middendorp makes the island come to life and shows us how insignificant man can be in relation to nature. With the aerial footage of Terschelling that Middendorp made with a self-built drone, he allows us to experience the island in a unique way.
